The first half of the Split EP contains almost twelve minutes of sharp-edged post metal by Asthenia from Beijing, China. London’s metalgaze and slowcore band World Coda has contributed two tracks to the CD’s second half. Their first track on the EP cold solace begins smoothly before World Coda leave the realms of shoegaze and dive into the cold waters of harsh growls and beautiful dissonance. Gradually, cold solace gains intensity, cold, and weight. With the song’s second climax at the second third of the seven-minute track, the multi-faceted soundscape perfectly describes the complexity of affection combined with desparation. World Coda play the soundtrack for the pain of love.
