Living under government that stumbles from one crisis onto the next desaster is disillusioning, and at one point even the most zen people cannot take it anymore. What you need is some heavy Noise Rock in combination with 1980s-style Hardcore kicks, and a catchy Grunge bridge.

To enjoy the new single Thirst by Salvation Jayne can be compared to relishing an extravagant beverage. In the beginning, strange noises ticklelips and nostrils before the heavy Alternative Rock riff spirals around tongue and palate like a tasty tornado. After the first chorus, a dark bridge made from Post Punk stimulates the uvula and encourages to swallow. What happens next is magical, as an explosion of Post Hardcore, Melodic Punk and Alternative Rock drops spreads pure energy, joy and empowerment to every cell of the body.

For their latest EP, Greek Black Metal outfit Forgotten… has recorded with a various line up that consists of guest musicians and session appearances. Thus, a versatile energy is the technical foundation for this six-track release. Music-wise, a deep meditation of frosty sounds drags the listeners into a vortex of ice water. This raw and atmospheric EP is a sonic blizzard that might freeze your eardrums.

Amidst a storm of sand, dust, fire and lethal objects, a monolith stands sturdily. It is Sky Lions who oppose the chaos and the storm, and thereby create a safe space where identities can be expressed freely. Nevertheless, the album Inside the Circle does not cover up the world outside this realm. Thus, a world of horror and heroism are depicted via a cinematic combination of Alternative Metal, Post Punk and phantasm.

Over the past years, Norfolk’s Oli Mortham has published several EPs and many singles under the alias of Polymorth. Now, the one-person band’s history has reached another milestone as the first longplayer Palimpsest is out. It is a legit independent release since all the work on Palimpsest was done by Mortham himself. You can thus dive into the colourful fantasy that was created by the multiinstrumentalist. It is a stunning world, full of surprises and thrilling tales, told via harsh Metal, atmospheric Rock and great twists.

On their third longplayer, Californian quartet Stitched Up Heart create a powerful storm made from Electronica and Glitch in combination with Modern Heavy Rock and Nu Metal. It is a massive Crossover sound that may remind of the glorious days of Linkin Park or Adema together with the destructive power of Infected Rain. This emotional and yet heavy sound is thrilling but unfortunately lack sustainability.

You would not expect that a band that named themselves after an Electric Wizard song to play Dream Pop. Unless by Dream you mean Nightmare and by Pop you mean Doom and Sludge. Well, Weird Tales are not hear to surprise us. Instead, the Polish trio makes us dive deep into a world full of schizophrenia, disease, madness, and doom. This is the sound of drug abuse, addiction, and its ugly side effects.
