Four years have passed since Canadian bass player and composer Alex Lakusta has released his solo debut Transmit Slow, and now he is back with a revolutionary sophomore longplayer. For fifty-one minutes, Island Ghosts is a masterful performance of a redefinition of jazz and fusion. Alex Lakusta leads a sextet which alloys cold and atmospheric themes with sunny and colourful motifs, mixes pastel colours with shiny grey, and creates turbulent motion amidst calm still lifes.
