Folktronica / Dream Folk
Wexford, Ireland / Leeds, England
Five months after publishing their debut album on bandcamp exclusively, The Parachute Testers have now officially released Halfway To Everywhere on all platforms. And this longplayer should really be heard. The Irish-British band performs the sound of a new generation: sensitive yet strong, dreamy and emotional but nevertheless resolute. Halfway To Everywhere contains a beautiful mix of different sounds from folk to dream pop and from pop to alternative rock. The Parachute Testers do not isolate or separate their musical influences. Instead they stir them up and present them in a fresh, progressive, and empathetic way.
Peaceful Retreat – Voyager

Post Rock / Space Rock
Las Vegas, Nevada, USA
Just like in the previous episode of the flashlight reviews, here is another stunning musical homage to the space probes of the Voyager program. Las Vegas-based quartet Peaceful Retreat has recorded six instrumental tracks which were inspired by humankind’s exploration of our galaxy. Two guitars whose voices dance with each other like shiny shooting stars dash above a cinematic sky made from a humming bass and dynamic drumming. Voyager is a concept album which allows the listeners to enjoy the beauty of the sky at night with their curtains closed. This truly cinematic longplayer is crammed with curiosity, calm, and satisfaction.
Subterranean Street Society – Out Of Skin, Into Bloom

Alternative Rock / Folk Rock
Amsterdam, Netherlands
They are part Danish, part Dutch, and based in the vibrant and international city of Amsterdam. Their sound combines the darkness and the dynamics of alternative rock with the rolling movement of folk rock. And now they have released their most adult, most concise, and most powerful album of their band history of almost ten years. Out Of Skin, Into Bloom is a modern and progressive folk and rock album but not a prog rock album. Subterranean Street Society perform a sound full of harmony and emotions yet heavy and straightforward.
