The year is almost over, and most people either look forward to 2024 or look back on the happenings of 2023. Fortunately, reality is not binary, and hence there is another option what to do. Scott Heller, also known as Dr Space, has gathered a crew of nine around himself at Estúdio Paraís Nas Nuvens in the gorgeous countryside of Central Portugal. Together, they have recorded more than two hours of zero-gravity Psychedelic Rock. And you will very likely agree that this is not an album, but a successful exploration of deep space. Thus, instead of shooting firework rockets, you might as well enjoy the end of the year by listening to Carnival in Portugal.
Weightless, Borderless, Worriless
The double LP contains tree tracks, two of them so long they have been split across the sides of the vinyl. For lovers of smaller sound carriers, there is a double CD, too which even contains three bonus tracks. Nevertheless, any of the versions has the power to enforce a zero gravity field wherever this album is played at. You can call it Space Rock, Psychedelic Rock or Krautrock, but this is far more than just a narrow sonic field. Øresund Space Collective are funky, atmospheric, snotty, and yet farsighted. You migh get dizzy during the journey but you do not ever have to be afraid. Dr Space and his crew spread peace and harmony wherever they travel.
