Frequently, in conversations people ask each other which of their senses they would miss the most when losing them. And it is very likely that a large amount of people will respond that they regarded their eyesight the most essential. Well, here is the story of a person who had to learn what it means to suddenly lose their sense of hearing.
John Kampouropoulos has been a professional musician for over thirty years now, and he has experienced both highs and lows during his career. In his song Silence, one of the lowest moments and its aftermath are being dealt with. The story’s prequel was a phase where pressure, stress, frustration, agony and anxiety where omnipresent. And even though, human body and mind can endure a lot, suddenly a ripcord was pulled. Due to a Sudden Sensorineural Hearing Loss (SSHL), all of the noise and hubbub around John Kampouropoulos turned into deep silence from one moment to another.
Silence is John Kampouropoulos‚ story of how he dealt with the new situation, after being being isolated from acoustic waves. In an Ambient Rock piece that is simultaneously silent and powerful, the artist tells how he re-gained strength, and how the sudden silence changed him. It is a sweet and yet serious tune that shall help us to think about selfcare and empathy more often.
