Music from the Dark Side
Once upon a time, there was a Norwegian solo musician called Timo Silvola who formed a one-person-project. His idea was to create a new sound which combines the rude features of punk rock and country. Well, here we are, a few years later. Twin Serpent has grown to be a full band with four members, and here is their second longplayer. Straight from the dark side (also known as the cool side), this is the new sound from the North, this is True Norwegian Blackgrass.
Northern Cowgirls and Cowboys
When Twin Serpent say blackgrass, they mean neither juncus gerardii, ophiopogon planiscapus, nor alopecurus myosuroides. Sorry botanists, this is about something else. Blackgrass is the result of a creative process that merged punk and garage rock with nordic folk, country and bluegrass, and spiced it up with traces of black metal aesthetics in the end. Sounds like a savage and explosive mix? It is! And it is beautiful. Imagine True Norwegian Blackgrass as a wild ride through the European tundra on the back of a drunk buffalo. In the woods you pass you may encounter some elves, fairies, and black metal bands. And in the distance, the northern lights are smiling at you.

Blackened Banjo Punk and Garage Folk
Between the heat of the North American Midwest and the haunted forests of Scandinavia, between the cold of polar night and the dust of the prairie, Twin Serpent make space for a place where happiness, unity, and cold drinks shall never run out. True Norwegian Blackgrass is rude, edgy, and yet harmonic and hospitable.
