Math Rock / Indie Rock
Rome, Italy
The four gladiators Pyerroth, Fishman, Dos Caras and Octagon have entered the arena and their mission is to find missing links that have not been known before. Together with four guest musicians, the Roman quartet presents a next-level sound that even breaks with its own conventions.

The Black Cat’s Eye – The empty Space between a seamount and shock-headed Julia
Album | 24/03/2023 | Tonzonen
Psychedelic Prog / Heavy Psychedelic Rock
Frankfurt am Main, Germany
Not only cover artwork and titles remind of later-day Pink Floyd, the new album The empty Space between a seamount and shock-headed Julia by German quintet The Black Cat’s Eye contains plenty of ingredients of the 1980s version of the 1960s British Psych and Prog sound. Long track with intelligent structures, great twists and loads of fuzz provide entertainment for the length of a 12″ record.

Goat the Head – Et Lokalsamfunn i Sorg
Album | 24/03/2023 | Crispin Glover Records
Dark Doom Metal / Doom Death Metal
Trondheim, Norway
The Norwegian title of this album means A Community in Grief, and it is a dark and thrilling tale told via a dozen songs. Trondheim’s Goat the Head spite all conventions of Doom or Death Metal and combine their sound with Funk, Soul, Rhythm and Blues and eschatological darkness. Accessing to this sound may take a moment, but then Et Lokalsamfunn i Sorg reveals its unique beauty.

Morass of Molasses – End all we know
Album | 24/03/2023 | Ripple Music
Doom Metal / Stoner Blues
Reading, England
Speaking of unconventional Doom Metal, here is the new album End all we know by England’s Morass of Molasses. Although following all the instruction from the Iommi-book, the way apocalyptic sound, heavy fuzz and rolling blues are combined here stands out of the masses. If this is the end of all we know then it comes with great velocity and it brings a lot of joy.

Public Serpents – The Bully Puppet
Album | 24/03/2023 | SBÄM Records
Crack Rocksteady / Skacore
New Jersey, NJ, USA
Muted offbeat passages that lead into Hardcore breaks, colourful brass sections interchanging with toxic screams: the recipe for Crack Rocksteady or Skacore may appear very uncommon when heard for the first time. New Jersey’s Public Serpents are back with another longplayer fifteen years after their previous album The Feeding of the Fortune 5000, and they serve every feature of the Crack Rocksteady sound. Although lacking innovative content or sustainability, The Bully Puppet is an entertaining longplayer.

Rainbow Bridge – Drive
Album | 24/03/2023 | Independent
Heavy Blues Rock / Stoner Rock
Italy
Imagine meeting Beth Hart and Joe Bonamassa at a run-down bar somewhere close to the highway between Rome and Naples. After getting acquainted with each other, you share three bottles of booze and some grams of sativa haze when the idea comes up to get in the car and drive to Brindisi right now. Even though this story seems very unlikely to happen, Rainbow Bridge’s Drive would be the perfect soundtrack to this odyssey of a joyride.
