High Energy Launch
Only a week ago, Proklaim’s single Somebody was featured on MangoWave – click here to read the article – and here we are with another track by the Windhoek-based artist. The three-minute banger Valley is blessed by a similar energy like Somebody, and hence nobody will be surprised that the two songs descend from the same big session. For rapper Alexander Kiremire who was born in Uganda and who spent many of his childhood years in Zambia, the year 2023 began with a lot of energy and vibrance. To celebrate and appreciate this positive launch, let us pay particular attention to the track Valley.
Fear no Evil
Compared to previous release Somebody, Valley is a lot darker which is due to the mesmerizing sample of the beat for a start. But it wouldn’t be rapper Proklaim with Lu Diaz on the mix and Chris Athens on the master if it was that easy. The Valley which is both theme and title of the song can be read multiple ways, and it definitely is a place where the sun only shines for a few hours per day. That Valley is hence a place one wants to exit.
Proklaim as a potential and passionate artist is someone who has left the metaphorical Valley in an artistic way. Being a rapper who has a heart and a cause, Proklaim has reached the highlands where he can unfold his lyrical wings – every line in that song is proof for that. When approaching the theme of the valley as a metaphor for mental health, the dark beat fits perfectly, too. And this way, the uplifting chorus is full of dynamics that empower the listeners to get up and stand up for their own good. And thirdly, a theological interpretation that spreads hope and motivation (no matter if you believe or not) can be spotted:
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
Psalm 23, 4
Motivation and Empowerment
And thus, despite all of the darkness of the soundscape, Valley is a track full of enlightening and empowering positivity – a song that might help you through dark times.
