Monumental Return
Good things take time. The latest album release by Cincinnati’s Electric Citizen is a great example for this saying. Formed in 2012, the band has released their first three albums in 2014 (Sateen), 2016 (Higher Time), and 2018 (Helltown). Velocity and quantity are great features, yet quality and development are important, too. Thus, for their fourth longplayer EC4, Electric Citizen have taken their time to undergo some serious progress. As a result, album number four is a sonic rebirth, a monumental return of Electric Citizen.
Occult Snake Charmers
EC4 is the beginning of a new chapter in Electric Citizen’s band history. The album’s title sticks out of their discography so far, and after three longplayers released via Riding Easy Records, the band has now signed with Heavy Psych Sounds: nomen es omen! And finally, each of the nine tracks prove that it was worth waiting for album number four. Songwriting and performance are more eloquent and confident than ever before, and on top of their most progressive output (so far), vocalist Laura Dolan casts her musical spells over the audience stronger than ever before. Like a group of occult snake charmers, Electric Citizen enchant and hypnotise the listeners.

Gaussian Psychedelia
Electric Citizen have stood for heavy psychedelia, groovy proto metal, or occult soundscapes since they were formed. Their fourth album is yet a breakthrough in the band’s performance and expression. EC4 contains a manginficient arc of suspense which basically follows the rules of a Gaussian curve. But like every great fun ride, the album there are plenty of trap doors, jumps, thrilling breaks, or other surprises. Electric Citizen’s fourth longplayer might make the listeners find themselves soaked in sweat, happy, and willing to turn the record around another time.
