Dharmakāya is the second longplayer by Hamburg’s Post Hardcore, Grunge, Shoegaze, Alternative Rock genre benders Entropy. The title refers to a buddhist doctrine called Trikāya which explains the omnipresence of Buddha through the multiple dimensions. Three bodies of the enlightened are mentioned here: the Dharmakāya (धर्म काय, dharma body, body of truth or reality), the Saṃbhogakāya (संभोगकाय, the body of enjoyment), and the Nirmāṇakāya (निर्माणकाय, transformation body). The Dharmakāya is also referred to as the true self, the Ātman of the Buddha. On the eleven-track album Dharmakāya, you will hear no Sanskrit, nor will you encounter Buddhist themes. Instead, Entropy sing about being oneself, hiding behind masks, and about the transformation of values or ideas.
Chameleon Rock
Eleven thoughtful an emotional tracks are presented as a highly versatile soundscape. Entropy lay a thick and comforting mist of Shoegaze on their songs, and their sentimental performance gives Dharmakāya a deeply melancholic expression. Nevertheless, the band from Northern Germany adds some heavy weights made from Alternative Rock and Grunge and therefore accelerates and intensifies the mood. And finalyy, there are some Post Hardcore breaks that burst into the musical environment like suddenmood swings. With the clean vocals, the album gets a certain pop air which may appear softened to some listeners and catchy or easily attainable to others.
