Reinterpreting Killing Time
Jenny Thiele’s debut album Killing Time was released two weeks before Halloween in 2022. On nine tracks, the Cologne-based artist presented an emotional, empathetic and yet powerful Living Room Pop sound that was both comforting and empowering. Fifteen months later, one of the album tracks shall receive extra attention. It is the longplayer’s second title Loonie, a sonic road trip filled with thirst for adventure and a certain Chris Isaak vibe. This song has been remixed by Copenhagen’s Robin Flux, and the result is still an adventurous track that fits road trips and rides ideally. But instead of laidback Indie Pop, Robin Flux provides us with energetic IDM and Deep House in his version. Jenny Thiele’s Loonie has thus been taken from the roads to the club – an amazing development of a great tune.
