Emocore / Screamo

The first decade of the new millenium bears material for multiple nostalgia sessions. There is the heyday of skate punk, the rise of nu metal, a whle new style of crossover and rapcore, you name it. In the later years of this decade especially, emocore and screamo were huge, and this is exactly the nostalgia wave that this is about. Loveline from Essen are a band that dedicated their sound to this phase, and thus, their debut album may trigger moments of nostalgia and melancholy in the minds of 00s hardcore kids.
Nostalgia >> Future
Their emocore and screamo sound is indeed rooted in the genres‘ golden era, but Loveline are not an oldfashioned band at all. Together with guest vocalist Tanja Kührer (Still Talk), they address the uncomfortable but very important topic of sexual abuse and toxic relationships. Their debut album Unrest features both tracks of their previously released self-titled tape, and it was recorded in the band’s rehearsal rooms and in several living rooms. Guitar play Micha took care of the mix while the master was done by artificial intelligence. Yes, the future is now. Independent artists have gained a whole new sphere of chances and opportunities.
