For over a decade, Maison Dieu have actively spread their occult, ritualist, and psychedelic sound. This time span has been defined by several awards and tours, an EP, and even a short hiatus. And now, eleven years after their unholy baptism, Maison Dieu are publishing their first longplayer. With Argonauta’s division for heavy music Octopus Rising as their partner, the Italian trio is ready to reach deep and wide into the global spheres of doom and sonic mysticism. This is the sound from the hidden town, this is Città Nascosta.
Rituals of Doom
Dark harmonies, a swirling bass that reminds of a coven’s fire, heavy psychedelia, and meditative rhythms clash with the sound of the end of time. This is mystic doom. Dark rituals, exotic folklore, occult procedures, and an apocalyptic atmosphere are being performed with a mix of bouyancy and melancholy. But what makes Maison Dieu‘s music so special are the melodi highlights powered by the vocals of Ester. It is the contrast between the dark and heavy metal sounds performed by Ivan and Mauro which makes the music on Città Nascosta so various and colourful.
Artistic Eschaton
With their sounds, their words, and even with visual arrangements, Maison Dieu perform highly aesthetic images of dystopian and apocalyptic scenarios. The folklorist approach especially, gives these images a certain attractiveness. And parallelly, there are the heavy sounds of nearing doom. Like this, bad omens and beautiful rituals create a balance which builds the occult backbone of Città Nascosta.
