Apocalyptic All Stars
Master’s Ashes are a gathering of veterans and all stars of the apocalyptic music scene. This super group consists of Katy Crimson (Convalescence), Jeff Golden (Six Feet Under and Crowbar), Dan Kaufman (Destroy Judas, Mindrot, and Dystopia), Eric Forrest (Voivod), and Crisis‘ Fred Waring and Afzaal Deen. Rough times need rough sounds, and thus the release of How The Mighty Have Fallen serves as a great soundtrack for the apocalyptic climate of the 2020s. It is a call for the end of the age of oppression and injustice, a battle cry against the gods and masters who enslave the residents of our planet.
No Gods, No Masters
Master’s Ashes continue the legacy of anarchists and peace punks Crass. Nevertheless, music-wise How The Mighty Have Fallen can rather be located within the spheres of sludge and post apocalyptic doom metal including dominant traces of crust punk. Venomous vocals splutter through a dystopian landscape while heavy doom riffs add impressions of a dark and bane scenery. And there are so many more features and elements that make How The Mighty Have Fallen. Razor-sharp crusty themes and freezing cold motifs intensify the desolate mood of the album. And yet, there is the rebellious character that comes with gang vocals and chorals. Master’s Ashes do not only comment on the misery our world has steered into, they also call for this misery to end.

Escape Our Doom
What comes after the apocalypse? According to old texts, there shall be either a new beginning, the eternity, or the void. For we cannot foresee, we shall rise and fight to the life that is known to us. And thus, Master’s Ashes raise their fists and voices and serve the soundtrack for the battle against evil and darkness in our mortal world. Come what may come afterwards, but the oppressors must go first.
