Fried Grunge
For almost ten years Tali Green, also known as Nicarus, has successfully bend, extended, and redefined musical concepts. Nicarus does not bow to genre conventions, and creates her unique sound instead. The Tel Aviv-based latest release is the five-track EP Degree of Doneness on which Tali Green stirs up the darkest version of the legacy of grunge with the sheer heaviness of stoner rock and post metal. This tasty mix is then served on a boiling hot plate, and spiced up with a snotty mix of resilience and anger. Here are five very different degrees of doneness, each of them a tidbit.

Done
The EP begins with Well Done, a heavy grunge track, and then continues with the dusty desert rock-fueled banger Done. On the third track Medium Well, Nicarus draws a musical bridge from alternative metal to post metal, and implements the lyrics of a Persian poem. Tali Green hereby shows her respect to the people and the culture of Iran, and utters a message of hope and peace. After this deeply respectful gesture, Decrees of Doneness reaches its climax with the sonic thunderstorm RAW. Here, the post metal themes dissolve in a savage fury of early-day black metal. And finally, Vegan marks the return to the realms of alternative metal and post grunge. On this final track, Nicarus confidently performs her strengths and therfore provides a fitting finale for the EP. This a powerful release that easily overcomes borders and raises hope for a future coined by solidarity and noisy music.
