New Year, New Noise
For lovers of metal punk, crust, black metal, or the darker sphere of the early punk rock wave, the 2026 begins greatly. The new year’s first Mango of the Week is the second release by Northrhine-Westphalian metal punks The Wolf I Feed. After their formation in 2025, the band recorded their first EP during their first rehearsal. Read the MangoWave review on The 42 Seconds Massacre here. And now, The Wolf I Feed have already returned with their sophomore EP, a two track release consisting of two hommages.

Black, cold, merciless
Wintermelodie begins with the eight-minute blizzard Wintergrab. Although, The Wolf I Feed do not consider themselves a black metal band, this frosty longtrack is a deep nod to the second wave of black metal combined with some nasty, crusty metal punk. Wintergrab is the soundtrack for breaking free from winter depression and facing the storm. The second track is much shorter but yet another highlight. Grau was originally performed by German depro punk legends Chaos Z, and the track has actually already been transformed into a crust or metal punk piece by Totenmond on their cover album Auf Dem Mond Ein Feuer. Anyways, this dystopian anthem is a beast of track against lethargy and decadence.
The Wolf I Feed shoot, rage, and scream against gridlock. Wintermelodie conveys a message: the time to act is now, defy the cold and get out there.
