Two Worlds Collide
Enterré Vivant have produced atmospheric black metal since 2019. Two albums and two EPs have been released since then. And although, the term atmospheric black metal will raise assumptions for a very special sound, be sure that this is different. It is unique. The music written and performed by Enterré Vivant is the sonic alloy of Euorpean (and French especially) black metal with the spirituality and the arts of Nippon. Two worlds, each of them distinctive and autochthonous collide. And amidst this transcontinental clash, a massive storm is born. This is 黒獄.
Rebirth
黒獄 is built around the concept of rebirth and reincarnation. Enterré Vivant present six stages of the cycle of life and death as it is taught in Buddhism. The album is a spiritual journey through the realms of ghosts, humans, heaven, animals, hell, and the Asuras. On the vinyl version, there is an alternate recording of the second track 人間道 (Human Realm). For this bonus track, vocalists Sakrifiss (lyrics and concept) and Erroiak (instrument and compositions) have changed their vocal roles. Guest singer Uguisu has furthermore enhanced the album’s atmosphere with shadow-like ethereal vocals.

黒獄 is a monolith of an album. From the concept to the realisation, Enterré Vivant have created something unique and thrilling. Cold waves made from black metal staccati meet the colourful beauty of Japanese spirituality. And these elements come together under an atmospheric firmament of a deeply emotional journey. 黒獄 is a one-of-a-kind release.
