Storm Tide Ahead
Shall we continue or should we turn around? Are we constantly steering towards a deep abyss or are we approaching the calm after the storm? South West German quintet In Schwerer See throw their audience right into a heavy storm tide where direction or course cannot be defined any more. Amidst this massive thunderstorm, we can only hold on to each other, and hope for this chaos to be over soon. The selftitled EP’s first track Konventionen deals with this very situation while the second track Mahlstrom continues the narrative by introducing a poweful force dragging you into dark and cold delpths. And finally in Ideale, a patronising person belittles and mocks a younger one who has not given up on their hopes and dreams yet.
Art of the Resilient
In Schwerer See is an EP that combines heaviness and aggression with fragility and hopeful wishing. The in medias res setting works perfectly, and thus the listeners can immediately let themselves be shaken back and forth once the music begins. Somewhere between the realms of Screamo, Melodic Hardcore and Post Hardcore, In Schwerer See open a massive sonic vortex to jump into.
The EP has been released digitally via iwishicouldstay, and for lovers of handcrafted music, Krachige Platten has published it on cassette tape and 12“ vinyl. The latter is to be played a 45 revolutions per minute, and it is a sheer beauty. With silkscreen on the B-Side and a grogeous artwork made by Ocvlvs Design, this record is really something you want to hold in your hands. Tender design and a heart for detail ideally complement this great album.
We will dance again
