Welcome to the Realm of Nightmares

If you know your DSM-5 (or a different book of facts for psychology and health), or if you read the article’s title, you will know what Kathodos‚ first album is about. The American artist presents an hour of the darkest soundscapes that refer to a sleep disorder which can occur during non-rapid eye movement sleep. Pavor Nocturnus, also known Night Terrors or Sleep Terrors, are similar to panic attacks, and their bouts can be a lot more intense than nightmares which are a form of rapid eye movement parasomnia.

A Sixfold Journey Through Horror And Darkness

KathodosParasomnia: Pavor Nocturnus contains six tracks, each of them between six and fifteen minutes in duration. The experimental soundscapes can be categorised somewhere near and around spheres such as Dark Ambient, Ritual, Soundscapes, and if Kathodos was using the services of an exploitative streaming service, music from the album could be found in the Not For Cowards playlist.

The sounds on Parasomnia: Pavor Nocturnus are compelling like sleep paralysis and breath-taking like sleep apnea. You may find parallels to the earlier works of Brother Grimm when Kathodos makes the listeners heteronomously wander alongside dark paths and undertake a thrilling journey. Thus, press play, board the dark vessel, and let the impressive show begin. Prepare yourselves for dark rituals, fathomless chamsms, and unutterable visuals.
