The Magnificient Seven
Seven years ago, in 2019, taihr were formed in Cologne. One EP, one album, and many concerts later, the septet has released their second longplayer Allicanto. The seven members have composed and performed seven tracks, each of them unique and coined by the ideas of one of the musicians. Allicanto is the artistic successor to taihr‘s previous longplayer Cambio. Further developed, more versatile, yet more concise, more consistent, more independent. Confidently, the Cologne-based artists present their refined taihr sound.
Guided by the Shiny Bird
taihr‘s sophomore longplayer is named after the legendary Allicanto (or Alicanto), a famous bird from Chilean mythology. Some say that when wandering through the Atacama desert by night, one may spot the Allicanto with his shiny wings. Those who manage to follow the Allicanto without being noticed will be lead to the mother lode of ores from which the elegant creature feeds. The Allicanto on the cover artwork of the eponymous album is also here to guide the listeners to hidden gems and straits of ore, but in a musical way. This image can be regarded as a reference to the great variety of sounds on the album, and to its multi-layer nature. You can turn up the volume, follow a certain theme of your likes, and will very likely be rewarded highly.

Seven Tracks, Seven Worlds
Music-wise, Allicanto is held together by its versatility and its bright colours. Each of the songs follow their own path, and thus, taihr‘s second album is highly exciting from beginning to end. Happy little surprises and twists occur every here and there while taihr successfully defy genres, categories, or musical dogmas. Prog, psych, and indie certainly define major parts of the sound, but there is so much more to discover here. The album’s B-Side for example, is way heavier, darker, and more complex than the first four songs. And then there is influence from math rock, latin rock, folk, alternative rock, and so much more which makes Allicanto the beautiful musical bird of paradise that it is.
