On top of the World
For Andrew Hung and Benjamin John Power, the year 2013 might have been one of the greatest years in their musical career. Leaving aside the two musicians‘ solo projects that became important later, it definitely was. 2013 was the year when the Bristol-based duo released their third and final longplayer Slo Focus via ATP Recordings. Although songs from their previous two albums and the single Immortals are more popular, Slow Focus was the album that is connected to Fuck Buttons‚ great world tour.
Sentient Frenzy
Slow Focus is an exciting 52-minute séance divided into seven chapters. Hung and Power invite their listeners to a breathtaking trip, to a party that might make your synapses jump around. Drones and psychedelic Electronica sounds shake the audience’s brains and tickle their souls. The result is a sonic tunnel dyed in deep dark colours but ornamented with plenty of flickering lights and reflectors. Slow Focus is almost one hour of holidays from the fast-paced world we live in – a truly psychedelic time-out.
