Mooncult are on fire, and thus the quartet proudly presents their fifth single of the current year. All in my Head comes with the thrilling Mooncult sound, and yet, some uncommon and refreshing motifs can be found in the new song. All in my Head is not as dark as previous singlre releases and yet the track is very atmospheric. Mooncult show that they can go far beyond their gloomy Post Punk sounds, and provide us with an energetic Garage Rock banger. 7/10 Mangoes
Those who understand the meaning of the Spanish word huracán, will not be surprised of the song’s stormy nature. It is nevertheless no meteorological phenomenon this song is about, but a capitalist oppressive one. The echoing chorus You have thirty days, you have thirty days! refers to people being displaced from their homes in Puerto Rico. Within thirty days, they have to abandon their place for the sake of investors. What is left behind are communities that look like they were hit by a tropical storm. 8/10 Mangoes
on death and dying is the second EP by Hamburg’s na zarot, and there are no prizes for guessing what it is about. For almost twenty minutes, the one-person band scratches on the borders between raw and melancholic Black Metal and Hardcore Punk. The EP is certainly not for the faint-hearted as its narrative steadily moves towards darkness, cold and the inevitable end. 5/10 Mangoes listening recommendations: no. 4, la llorona
Somewhere between Wave, New Wave and No Wave, between Punk, Post Punk and Electropunk, between rave and moshpit, KNUD VOSS invite us to an endless night. The music on their album mono reminds of neon lights and unplastered walls, loss of appetite and hunger for the next party. KNUD VOSS play music that moves on several layers simultaneously, and whatever the listeners focus on, they can re-experience a song once more. 6/10 Mangoes listening recommendations: Maulwürfe, Lichtorgel
