Development of the AtF Sound
Since their forming in 2016, Southern German band Act the Fool has previously released a demo and two EPs. The first EP Get Active! was published on cassette tape, the successor DOWN was pressed on 7“ vinyl, and now the third EP Nebel will be available on a one-sided 12“ record soon. Parallel to the growth of the formats, the band has developed, too.
Thus far, you can clearly state that Nebel has been the best produced, most various, and technically finest Act the Fool release. The band‘ members seem’s energy is stronger than before, and the latest release contains a strong synergy which previous EPs were still lacking.
Unfolding a New Feature
And something else has changed. There is one thing that Aschaffenburg’s Retro Rock band Ritvs (formerly known as Vvlva) and Act the Fool have in common. Both bands made the decision to switch to lyrics in their mother language, and for both German bands it was a great decision. For Act the Fool, the German lyrics come with a landslide of eloquence and fluency compared to previous releases. In their native tongue, Act the Fool shout against the dark times that we live in, and they empower their audience not to give up against the darkness that surrounds us these days.
Nebel (German: Fog) is certainly the greatest Act the Fool EP in the band’s eight year history, and it marks a serious progression in their sound.
