Once Upon A Tour…
… Collignon began to work on their new album. And you can tell by the longplayer’s mood that being on the road has indeed had its influence on the sounds of Bicicletta.
There is a very certain feeling that comes when you ride your bicycle alongside a dyke close the sea, while gentle breeze and sea salt caress your slightly sun-burned face, and not too far away a friendly person is about to prepare a barbecue and keeep some beverages cold. Now, something comparable to this very special combination of haptic, gustatory, olfactoric, and audio-visual impressions has been processed by Jori Collignon (farfisa and synths), Gino Bombrini (drums, percussions, acoustic guitar, cello and bass), and Yves Lennertz (guitar and bass). They have then created ten little pieces of sonic sunshine which appear as a coherent joyful journey: this is Bicicletta.
A Sound Without Severity Or Borders
Bicicletta is a journey with ten stages. Each of them unfold their unique beauty while following a set of general motifs. Collignon thus present a cohesive musical freeride that is defined by freedom, independence, and sunrays for your ears. Ten instrumental pieces build easy-to-cross bridges from the Caribbean and Western Africa to Western Europe over to South Asia, from Afrobeats to Funana, from Maloya to Psychedelia, or from Samba to Indie Pop. Collignon help their listeners to connect synapses, minds, and routes.
