Never Mind Coherence…

… this is Punk Rock! Yes, Hässlon, Jacke, and Mykill are back. They are the Scheissegang, the relentless keepers of 1970s style Punk Rock, the incarnate middle finger in the face of the arseholes around the globe. And despite all possible assumptions, they have absolutely nothing to do with the Beastie Boys.

The selftitled album is The EASTIE RO!S‚ third longplayer, the final part of the faeces trilogy. It is thus the brown album even though previous full-length release ACHTUNG STRESS! was a bit of a combo-breaker here… But if you only count Scheissegang, Scheisse kalt serviert!, and the current brown album, you have a trilogy again. Thou shalt not apply logic and rules to Punk Rock, or you might take away all the fun of it.

Life, Love, Punk

There are basically three ingredients that make The EASTIE RO!S an absolute beast of a Punk Rock album. First of all, and easiest to grasp for people who do not understand the German lyrics, there is the music. The sound on the The EASTIE RO!S‚ brown album is deeply rooted in the German Punk Rock of the 1970s and early 1980s. You can find parallels to acts such as Kreftich, Chaos Z, Maniacs, and (some people will hate this comparison) early Die Toten Hosen. Close your eyes, turn up the volume, and you can taste Karsquell or Hansa Pils on your tongue.

Secondly, there are the lyrics. The EASTIE RO!S are fed up with the amount of arseholes that are everywhere. Thus, they shoot and shout against new and old fascists, against patriarchic or homophobic discourses, against social brutalisation and dereliction, against social media, and finally against exaggerated negativity. This album’s message combines the need for change with the necessity of having fun. Revolutionaries need selfcare, too!

And finally, there is that sexy Rock’n’Roll attitude, that sympathetic charm, that authentic and honest presentation which coins the entirety of the brown album. For half an hour The EASTIE RO!S provie their listeners with everything that a great Punk Rock album needs.
