We have a reason to celebrate! Catch As Catch Can (also known as CACC) from one of Germany’s most underrated and underestimated university town, Kassel, were formed back in 2014. And for their ten-year-anniversary, the quartet has released the first 10“ vinyl record of their band history. Hamburg’s indie label La Pochette Surprise has published this four-track EP that is crammed with ambuguity, energy, and high-class lo-fi Garage Punk. Hold on to yor leather jackets, pants, eardrums, and sobriety, because the North Hessian quartet is about to blow them away.
For fourteen minutes, CACC surprise, enchant, and entertain their listeners. Let us therefore turn up the volume and embrace the beginning of Catch As Catch Can’s second decade of existence.
The Golden Ratio
Now, what is it that makes CACC’s Egg Punk so diverting? Well, the ambiguity and energy mentioned above play an important role here. But there is somthing else, and that is the art of musical marksmanship. Catch As Catch Can accurately find the sweet spot between complexity, simplicity, and entertainment. The raw energy of 1970s Punk Rock kisses demanding riffs. And the way they arranged and performed activates the audience’s muscles responsible for smiling and dancing. Seriously, this EP is a pure powerload of fun.
