They have haunted the South Wester region of Germany for quite some, and now they have finally released their first longplayer. Yum Yum Club are Marius Schwingel, Philipp Knoth, Julian Knoth, and Paul Abbrecht from the metropolitan region around automobil city Stuttgart. With their twelve-track longplayer Full HD they successfully show that the borders of genres such as Post Punk, No Wave or Jazz Rock can still be pushed.
Course by Course
When a band calls themselves Yum Yum Club, analogies to food and taste are standing for a reason, and thus here is the twelve-course menu served by the quartet. Course by course, Yum Yum Club serve another surprise, and whenever one thinks that one has found the key to assume the next song’s nature, the quartet provides the next feint.
Wide Spectre crammed with Details
Full HD is an album title that really comes up to its name. Yum Yum Club could not have chose a better name for their debut. On the one hand, the quartet provides their audience with a wide spectre of sounds reaching from Dub and Jazz over Rap and No Wave to Post Punk and Punk Rock. But on the other hand, every little detail on this twelve-track release fits perfectly. From melancholic Wave and Noise such as in Ich verdiene (play on words which can mean both I earn and I deserve) to heavy Punk Rock tunes like Der Hund sieht aus wie ein Schal (The Dog looks like a Scarf) to the skit Timbo, this is flawless. Next Generation Punk!
