Six very short reviews.

Infantry – Terminal Society

(Album | 31/08/2022 | Independent)
When Infantry from Zaanstad invite you to the moshpit, you might better wear a helmet and a battle jacket. The band’s latest album „Terminal Society“ is a merciless blast made from Death and Thrash Metal. Constantly thrashing above average, the album’s only real highlight is the guest appearance by Miranda Visser (Hellevaerder).

Gus Walker – Come find me

(Single | 25/11/2022 | Independent)
Twenty years ago, Justin Timberlake and the Black Eyed Peas were looking for the love – whether they have found it, remainds unknown. In late 2022, Amsterdam’s Gus Walker invited the people to look within themselves and to spread what they found there. The single ‚Come find me‘ is a refreshing Reggae anthem that carries positivity and comes with some honest Dub passages.

Ar-Jane – Shadow

(Single | 02/12/2022 | Independent)
Tilburg’s Ar-Jane debuted with her single ‚Shadow‘ in late 2022. Backed by a six-piece band, the young artist tells us of heartbreak and all its doubtful side effects on the psyche. This deeply melancholic and atmospheric Dark Indie Pop tune is a powerful debut of an artist that we will hopefully hear a lot more from.

¡Pendejo! – Hasta el Final

(Single | 09/12/2022)
¡Pendejo! (Spanish: idiot/stupid) celebrate their fifteen-year anniversary by releasing their Latin Metal slow jam ‚Hasta el Final‘ (Until the End). Heavy riffs, driving brass sections and a dusty soundscape, ‚Hasta el Final‘ introduces the promo phase to the new album „Vólcan“ that is to be expected in March 2023. If you love riding from from saloon to saloon through the Dutch desert, this is your sound.

What do you get when you mix 1970s style Punk Rock and Oi! with Millenium-era Emo? EmOi! Punk maybe? The answer may or may not have been found by Utrecht’s Two Star Review who present a fresh sound that triggers the joy of pogo dancing but also allows you to show emotions meanwhile.

Harry Kappen – Wargames

(Single | 16/12/2022 | Independent)
Amsterdam’s music therapist Harry Kappen openly addresses the radio DJs and other players of contenporary pop culture with his latest single ‚Wargames‘. In a time where desinformation, hunger, crises, war and greed are omnipresent, why is there predominantly joyful ore apolitical music on the radios? The Prog hymn ‚Wargames‘ comes with a catchy chorus and will hopefully be food for thought.
