„RE: Silence“ is the latest single released by an enigmatic electronic music producer XDXD. Little is known about the person behind this act, so the two songs come with no actual context, but it creates no obstacles to enjoying fresh straightforward EDM.
‚Move for me‘ is constructed around the even midtempo beat. Upon it towers the keyboards from the late breakbeat era, its Japanese iteration mostly. The track utilises pauses heavily, building tension on returning melodies with extra layers and strongly modded vocals. It ends as abruptly as it started, leaving the aftertaste of arcades and racing video games soundtracks.
Then comes ‚Strained Love‘, and it instantly draws a way darker and bleaker picture. Everything about the audio in the mix is noir, except for the bass, which remains chunky and straight out of some minimalistic house music. When the female vocal appears XDXD sounds a lot like Trentemøller – with less development and tension, but still touching. ‚Strained Love‘ remains hermetic and doesn’t explore any territories outside of its initial chamber.
The release is accompanied by an abstract monochrome artwork that looks exactly like those tracks sound.
XDXD is definitely positioned to find his place under the sun in the oversaturated electronic scene with his simple charm of accessible dance music.
